Wedau
The Wedau EL covers an area of 439 km 2 in the Milne Bay Province of PNG, centred about 55 km northwest of Alotau . The property has been explored in the past for copper by AMAX and more recently by Getty, CRA and BHP for gold and copper. There is widespread gold mineralisation on the property, usually related to intrusive contacts; copper-rich rocks contain anomalous levels of gold. There was sufficient gold in at least one catchment to support alluvial working by locals. There are also indications of epithermal-style mineralisation in several areas of the property. Favourable structures, multiple intrusions and host rocks consistent with replacement mineralisation also occur. Numerous areas of geochemical anomaly have been identified but have not yet been explored in detail.
