Oram
The Oram EL covers an area of 1,286 km 2 in the Central and Oro Provinces of PNG, centered about 150 km east-southeast of Port Moresby . The ELA was originally explored by BHP for copper in the 1970s and by CRA in the 1980s. CRA identified a number of strong target areas, though most of these were not followed up and warrant additional work. The high anomaly threshold selected by CRA resulted in the ignoring of more subtle anomalies and a failure to follow up isolated high values separated by long stretches of drainage sampled with an assay cut-off of 200ppb.
Several types of mineralisation are indicated, including epithermal-style mineralisation associated with porphyry intrusion, a porphyry-copper association and epithermal replacement-style mineralisation. TPJ is compiling all data onto a GIS database to assist target selection, prioritization and programme planning.
